Divine lion dog

Most who were introduced to the figure via the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series rebranded for the English-speaking markets didn’t get to know the great identities of all the obscure creatures except for the first couple in translations. However, Godo Shisa is among an enormous casting of creative forms produced through the Kinnikuman universe that the pair of creators named Yudetamago still produces today.

In a likeness of mixing a traditional mythic protection deity called a Shisa that mixed a mighty lion for courage and loyal dog to guard from any bad spirits, into a super humanoid wrestling creature. The form contributes to the diverse lineup of secondary characters in the story arcs that include interesting and creative attributes into the scenes.

Having an exaggerated motif around mythology and superstition is common in the Kinnikuman character roster providing inspiration amongst the hundreds of them. To which God Shisa lends his presences with an expected composure and authority, setting him apart from the more brutish contenders.

M.U.S.C.L.E. #101 God Shisu

While he may be a background character with sparce signature techniques including the Divine Press, or the God Hand Strike, both being exactly how they sound and in very deliberate moves. Likely the same moves that were recreated often and unknowingly by names in the markets where his identity was lost but in the same imaginative intent that Yudetamago intended. So that even without an introduced with an elaborate backstory, an imagination could produce one for him anywhere he appeared.
