#121 Hantengu Man

Like a tank

As the generations that only knew the characters in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series without their original identities cleverly crafted their own to the varied Creatures encounters. There existed (and still produced and popular now over 40 years later) the original Japanese manga that has spread from page to screen and everywhere in between. With hundreds of unique characters brought to life by the duo of friends known as Yudetamago, there exists many that came with the Mattel distribution for the North American market like Hentangu Man that remain obscure as collectors learn more and translate into more of the story arcs out of their origins in the expansive Kinnikuman universe.

Appearing as a minor and lesser-known contender he appears briefly serving as more of a background secondary visual gimmick than a central figure in the roster. Bearing the three stars on his helmet and several cannon appendages dressed in a camouflage armor form. It’s no wonder this figure found its way into many spectacular nostalgic battles in the imaginations of the newly introduced additional fan base.

Playing as a stylized obstacle and contributing to the eclectic tone of the series rather than inclusion in any pivotal narrative. In his M.U.S.C.L.E. form that came after the original Japanese keshi figures was distributed in a tougher material and different color variants. With this particular set commonly one of the earlier to complete along the way.

While more is discovered down the rabbit hole that sees nostalgic memories finally explained it’s not known to the author if Hentangu Man has any signature moves, or any depth really past his military inspired imposing form. Also, not sure if the translations found were correct, but one thing we’re sure of is he packed some punches from the playgrounds to the living rooms of the fans worldwide.
