Happy archer

Friendly appearing and relatable for so many imagination-based story lines the Black Knight appears a couple times in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series. In this form appearing in the likeness of a medieval archer he’s a common favorite for army builders and nostalgic shelf space alike. Though most introduced to the character through the Westernized rebranding weren’t aware of his origins in the Kinnikuman universe born from an enormous manga and anime franchise from Japan.

With type of hunter archetype to his form inspired by the familiar medieval knights of old, allowing him to stand out in the already huge roster of various secondary antagonists. He operates a kind of enforcer rather than primary story appearances in tournaments and matched fighting dynamics among the more notable characters.

Techniques he brings to his form are easily foreshadowed but not named as his identity was lost when combined into the collective Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere. Such as the Precision Arrow Barrage, or his Shadow aim allowing for stealth oriented strikes.

M.U.S.C.L.E. #143 Black Knight (I) Backs

Whether envisioned as a medieval ranger or further backstory deserving alternate persona perhaps we’ll see more appearances of his likeness. Released originally in the Japanese keshi form of a softer material and different color variants the purple and light blue version of these in the Mattel import line are the tougher to acquire. Except these little guys are great in any form.

Kinnikuman Black Knight (I)

Besides, who didn’t have this guy off on a make-believe cliff or something raining down aerial assaults with infinite arrows? Whether you knew his name or not, his character presents enough on his own to drive many a playground battle.

Even if his real-world role wasn’t as large, he still stands out as a memorable member of the rubber toy line many came to love.
