Wild wooly
A powerful an imposing villain that easily became a fan favorite to many introduced to his likeness in the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. series. The identity of Mammoth Man and his origins in the expansive Kinnikuman universe though are thanks to the imaginations of the artistic duo of friends from Japan. A pair who goes by the collective name Yudetamago who brought the character to life in their amazing manga and anime franchise amongst the hundreds of unique characters in the roster of superhuman wrestling sensations.
A member of the legendary Hell’s Missionaries team who appears along several major story arcs this Wooly mammoth inspired beast of a man meets creature is a prehistoric phenomenon brought to historic contemporary form. Recognized for immense strength and potentially one of the strongest Akuma Chojin ever joining the story lines and his figure is a memorable tusked antagonist who found his story ever growing in the imaginations of fans worldwide.
Bringing an embodiment of pure physical power mixing traditional wrestler physique with ice age beast as an original monster-themed creation rather than more parody based like many of the Kinnikuman characters. He personifies an overwhelming powerhouse reflecting the themes popular in professional heavyweight wrestling characters of the era.
First appearing in the Dream Chojin Tag Arc alongside the character English-speaking fans may know as Terri-Bull (originally Buffalo Man). The ominous duo became one of the most feared teams in the tournament by crushing opponents through brute force and ruthless tactics. True to his antagonist nature one of his notable story lines includes Mammoth man and Buffalo man’s stolen horns, where our tusked menace carries them as trophies and a source of power.
Despite his introduction as wild villain he later returns in modern revival manga that expand his character base into deeper roles. Though still display his signature moves like Nose-Fencing, striking and impaling contenders with his tusks. Or other notables like the Mammoth Typhoon, Mammoth Crusher, and of course other power-based charges and techniques.
Just a great creative character design that continues to inspire imaginations and memories the franchise still continues to create now decades later.
