The thief

Giving a likeness nod to the popular Luchador wrestling scene of the time, many fans of the figure from the M.U.S.C.L.E. series wouldn’t know his identity until much later. As one of the hundreds of superhuman wrestlers of the Kinnikuman universe Kinnikuman Mariposa held more notable origins than his simple form imported by Mattel who opted not to carry their names and backstories.

One of the contenders for the throne of Planet Kinniku as one of the Five Fated Princes competing in the Throne Arc storyline. Presented as the God of Flight combining agility and aerial attacks with acrobatic attacks and defense. His name Mariposa is the Spanish word for Butterfly reflected in his character design.

His agile wrestingling prowess draws inspiration from the professional wrestling Lucha Libre wrestling personas that made the entertaining and spectacular aerial fighting styles famous. Introduced as one of the five potential heirs to the Kinniku throne he leads Team Mariposa of other characters included in the Mattel toy line but with origins rooted in the worlds created by a pair of Japanese friends known collectively as Yudetamago.

Contrasting sharply with other contenders who rely on sheer brute force and displaying why this Fate of Flight opponent was a threat to many.

Kinnikuman - Mariposa

While Mariposa has origins known for being George the Thief and ultimately losing in his pursuit of usurping motives. His character matures and expands in recognition for acts of skill and honor through later appearances in the original manga.
