Flushing contender

One of the most unusual of the Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere brought to the English-speaking markets by Mattel in the 1980s, most fans of the toy line likely didn’t realize the actual design of this character. With his origins from the popular Japanese manga series known as Kinnikuman this characters name of Benkiman literally translates to Toilet Man. Based on the traditional Japanese floor toilet that’s less common there now but very common for Asia in general.

Initially created as a comedic opponent bringing slapstick humor to matches and a unique likeness to the enormous roster of imaginative superhuman wrestlers of the franchise. His later appearances gave him a surprising amount of depth that earned him a loyal fan following. Giving the character lasting memorable attention as a porcelain toilet brought to life as another entertaining unique form introduced in the early Chojin Olympics story lines.

With a body of a toilet and plumbing inspired appendages including you-know-what often displayed on his head. An entirely original gag character was formed that displays the creativity of the original creators of the Kinnikuman universe made by two Japanese friends who go by the identity of Yudetamago and still produce the immensely popular manga and anime today.

The unforgettable oddball fighting style of Benkiman lends to his unique character form that created a hilarious and bizarre novelty for his appearances. While remaining a minor character for many years with occasional cameos he was included in the 2011 revival that significantly expanded his role. During the Perfect Large Numbers story arc he’s re-introduced as an experienced Justice Chojin displaying courage and determination that contrasts his original purely comedic persona.

Kinnikuman - Benkiman

As you might have guessed this combatants unique techniques and trademark moves revolve around his plumbing-based physiology. With attacks like the Suction Attack, Hell’s Toilet, with grapples and body presses to subdue opponents.

However his trademark move, the Benki Flush is his likely his most memorable. Wherein just as your imagination may have already foreshadowed, he uses his powerful flushing current to trap or violently eject opponents from his ceramic bowl.

Humorous in concept, creative in execution, and remarkably effective within the over-the-top Kinnikuman universe that fans have grown to love. Perfectly illustrating the unique and entertaining premise that the original creators are known and celebrated for in their careers spanning decades with the memorable franchise that M.U.S.C.L.E. figures originated from.
