With a face given the likeness of the sight down a rifle scope and a menacing anonymous appearance in general this figure was a favorite to many who may still not even know his true identity. Memorable and recognizable but with his story lost in translation when Mattel brought characters from the Japanese Kinnikuman franchise to the English-speaking markets rebranded with the simpler collective identity of the M.U.S.C.L.E. toys series.
His original creators who are still celebrated for their talent in bring obscure and unique character designs into the immensely popular anime and manga series known as Kinnikuman. The Hunter is the kind of persona that the artistic pair of friends known as Yudetamago still brings to their enormous roster of characters today.
While the character has limited appearances as a minor supporting character, his unique design and stature earned him a place in the memories of fans around the world. Themed as a big-game hunter and marksman with exceptional vision and a mechanical droid-like appearance he conveys the image a professional tracker capable of stalking and eliminating his opponents.
Like most of the minor characters in the franchise his presence is helps reinforce the idea of just how expansive the Kinnikuman universe is with diverse presences of all varieties. With a role that showcases this creativity rather than driving the primary story arcs.
He relies on precision and cunning versus brute force with abilities including long-range targeting and strikes amongst his generalized grappling techniques. Oddly enough he doesn’t appear to utilize weapons or ranged combat as his name and likeness would suggest.
Regardless of his status among the hundreds of unique superhuman wrestling themed characters in the series. His likeness remains yet another great example of the possibilities in imagination the duo named Yudetamago shared with the world and all the fans it continues to create even now.
