Injured Asura

Easily one of the most favorite recurring characters in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line of figures is this six-arm antagonist named Ashuraman inspired by the Asura gods of Hindu and Buddhist mythology. With this particular figure presenting him injured and battered from combat from his origins in the popular Japanese manga and anime known as Kinnikuman among hundreds of unique characters. Unfortunately, fans introduced to the likeness via the Mattel series wouldn’t learn his identity and backstories until often decades afterwards.

Rebranded from their often interesting and unique character personas for an easier start in the English-Speaking markets Ashuraman became just another of the Millions of Unusual Small Creatures Lurking Everywhere. Which became a 1980s phenomenon that captivated the imaginations of millions of new fans around the world.

While his start was that of merely a ruthless antagonist with malicious tendencies, his character develops into a complex prideful warrior with a newfound respect from both allies and enemies. Of course, the six-arms would make him a memorable and recognizable form for anyone even remotely familiar with the franchise. Fitting for a leading member of the Devil Chojin faction amongst the hundreds of entertaining characters in the Kinnikuman roster.

Kinnikuman - Ashuraman

A villain by design and comrade by example, he adds an entertaining personality to the story arcs along with his extraordinary anatomy. His legendary battle with Terryman in the Golden Mask Arc (possibly conveyed in his injured state this figure shows) he suffers severe injury.

He goes on to appear multiple other manga arcs through the storylines often suffering violent defeats. Such as having his arms torn apart and yet continues to return to battle, earning him the respect of others.

However it’s his other-worldly form of massive additional appendages that still grab the attention of the figures today. Allowing the character a place in the memories of fans for the ages in every form.
