Snake guy

A figure from the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series that captivated imaginations for years even without knowing the characters origins was Cobra Satan. For the western markets Mattel licensed the figure design for though we had to imagine his name and backstory. Maybe he was a snake, or a slug, or a worm, this creative form was a favorite to many in a greater capacity than the limited appearances in is Japanese roots from the still popular manga called Kinnikuman.

A minor supporting villain character from the Justice vs Ancient Chojin movie he’s a member of you guessed it, the Ancient Chojin. A group of warriors commanded by Satan King as an intimidating serpentine creature themed on whatever mythological motif you choose. Combining the threatening physiology with exaggerated fighting abilities typical of the unique characters in the enormous universe of Kinnikuman created by the creative duo Yudetamago of Japan.

When Satan King awakens the Ancient Chojin to attack the Justice Chojin in an attempt to conquer earth the unworldly character joins in a minor role. Confronting Ramen Man with greater numbers declaring he will strangle him but is ultimately defeated by his killer karate.

Luckily for collectors he’s usually a pretty easy figure to find even though his fan base is so large especially amongst those in the western markets who didn’t previously know his origins. Even though not a recurring antagonist in his origin franchise still popularly produced by the same creators in Japan.

Kinnikuman - Cobra Satan

Voiced by Issei Futamata (a recurring voice actor in the Kinnikuman series). The character had a short-lived presence in the franchise but got a second wind simply for the unique design of the figure.

Just another great example of the imaginative possibilities we find in the Kinnikuman universe that made its way to the states via Mattel through the mid 1980s. However, it would have also been cool if he came with his nunchucks!
