Pro wrestler homage
A handsome athletic Chojin hailing from France with a blonde mane and just looking like a wrestler is the being that is Jean Steamboard (or as the American market fans know him “Stimboard“). Standing as another of many wordplay tributes Yudetamago included in the original manga for the real world wrestler Ricky Steamboat.
Introduced well before the 1985 debut in the American markets by Mattel in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line, he was inducted into the Kinnikuman galaxy during the American Tour Arc. Where he fought alongside Beauty Rhodes as a team they named The emporers in a showcase of international Chojin wrestling challenge.
Straight forward but powerful wrestling techniques were his primary combat style with signature flying chop, karate sappo, and side suplex his main moves. A masked roaming contender whom doesn’t hold a predominant role in the stories but a memorable one none the less.
Finding his way into the favorite figures category for many, Jean Steamboard has an interesting role as a figure. Without knowing the original manga from the lines Japanese origins and the creators Yudetamago. Our imagination in the 80s made for many different stories in his epic battles from the living room to the playgrounds.
