The happy block guy
One of the most easily recognizable characters appearing as #3 on the original promotional collector poster was this jolly fellow. Likely known by a different nostalgic name by fans of the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. line, his Kinnikuman origin name is Sunshine.
With his debut in the Chojin Olympics and Dream Tag arcs his shape-shifting abilities gave him multiple persona that made their way into the popular Mattel toy line. Sand based, blocky, with hollow eyes made him a memorable antagonist, especially in his story line with Ashuraman and the Villainous Seven Devil Chojin.
Today, Sunshine occupies a unique place in toy history: a Japanese manga villain who became a defining figure of an iconic 1980s American toy craze. For collectors and retro wrestling toy enthusiasts, his 1985 M.U.S.C.L.E. appearance remains one of the most memorable cross-cultural adaptations of the era.
No matter how you ended up introduced though you probably thought about what those rollers could do to his opponents. Full of tricks that made the character a pop culture icon in and of himself.
