Blocky blocker
A towering character from the classic Japanese wrestling themed manga Kinnikuman, created by Yudetamago. This combatant is composed of interlocking tiles and represents France in the Chojin Olympics. Calm demeanor yet intimidating size and appearance, he’s one of the more memorable figures from the M.U.S.C.L.E. series brought to the American markets.
With early arrogance, Tileman becomes a likable character forming a friendship with Mind Puzzle Man and loyal to allies through later story arcs. First appearing in the 21st Chojin Olympics he impresses with sheer brute strength and stamina.
A secondary character to the Kinnikuman universe he isn’t prevalent in many extra notable plot lines and is limited in fighting ability with the Tile Attack as his primary technique. When introduced to the new North American markets in 1985 by Mattel after licensing the likeness from the Kinnikuman keshi series he found his way to new shores, and new stories.
Most in the new markets never knew his history as the toy line was re-branded as M.U.S.C.L.E. (Millions of Unusual Creatures Lurking Everywhere) without including the original back stories of the figures. However, strong and durable as his character conveys, many children quickly adopted them into their own feats of imagination for years to come.
