Ball and chain
Also known as Perfect Ball (Kankyū), this villainous Chojin is a memorable figure for fans of the original Kinnikuman manga. However, also to collectors for a fabled point of controversial contention within the collector community. With his head anchored to his wrist he’s still an easy favorite for the imagination of the many created by the Yudetamago duo.
Serving under diabolical leaders like Big the Budo and Neptuneman during the Dream Chojin Tag story arc he teams up with the Screw Kid to for the tag team Killer Game Combo. Durable and with enormous strength, his character lacks confidence once defeated and even flees to avoid his fate. This earned him a grim end at the hands of Neptuneman later.
Kendaman’s combat style is built into his anatomy with his metal head attached to his wrist by a heavy chain. He uses this unusual configuration as the primary weapon in his assaults with signature techniques like Ball-and-cup Headbutt, and the Scorpion Hold.
When he was introduced to the North American markets in the mid ’80s most buyers wouldn’t know his story as Mattel didn’t include them in the rebranding from the original keshi line. This gave children an opportunity to fill in his details by their own imagination and grow up to continue the same.
Collector controversy
Years ago, a community of collectors found each other online by the shared interest in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series. In that time many extra rare and even 1 of 1 figures have been found and validated by this community that help keep the lore lively.
Another article will be coming that will explain in more detail but the gist is a member of this relatively small community was later found to have betrayed the trust of many. One instance of which is the purported existence of a BLUE version of the #40 figure that was never validated, but not out of the realm of possibility.
