His name pretty much sums up his figure. Even for the English speaking markets introduced to him via the M.U.S.C.L.E. series from Mattel that failed to carry his story with his likeness into the new markets. However, The Mountain could have been known by many names in the imaginations of the era and still delivered the same weight as a massive Chojin.
From the classic wrestling manga imagined up by the Yudetamago duo of Japan the character debuts in the early tournament arcs as a towering competitor. Portrayed as a massive brute with incredible strength his appearances create a recognizable contrast against the more humanoid combatants.
Villainous and formidable as an opponent or just an obstacle in general his stature conveys a straightforward wrestling archetype of an unstoppable giant. With an offense that relies on crushing power utilizing his massive weight with signature techniques including the Earthshaker Drop, or the Mountain Press used to flatten contenders.
To most M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors unfamiliar with his roots in the Kinnikuman universe his form allowed him to take on new story lines from the playgrounds to the living rooms. Even if the figures head wasn’t occasionally a projectile to torment siblings or getting a giggle from what his likeness may inspire. He’s another example of a memorable character in the series.
