Caped menace
As many of the bizarre characters in the Kinnikuman universe Octopus Dragon is no less of a creative example from the artistic duo Yudetamago. Blending monster and wrestling themes with traits of a sea creature adds depth to a figure that most North American consumers might not know even came from an entire manga originated in Japan.

Unapparent to those unfamiliar in most cases, what appear as horns are actually tentacles of this creature’s anatomy, standing out among the strange competitors. He represents some of the wild creativity the Japanese story arcs brought to the new markets by Mattel in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line that fed the imagination of countless play time battles.
Typically appearing among a variety of fighters competing in tournaments or exhibitions this tentacle wielding antagonist focuses on grappling and constriction techniques. Using his multi appendage advantage to ensnare and manipulate opponents.

Though not a central character to the story lines Octopus Dragon does include some signature moves in his repertoire including the Dragon Grip Slam, Octopus Hold, and the Tentacle Whip, attacking his enemy with lashes from multiple angles. With his caped stern persona and wrestling ready physique though, any number of roles could be taken by this natural antagonist in the imaginations of kids in the era. Easily making him one of the fan favorites of the nostalgic toy line.
