The cute little bean

Depicted as a soft, blob-like Chojin whose name reflects his squishy and gelatinous appearance Puyo Puyo is unlike most of the other wrestlers in the Kinnikuman story line. His unpredictable grappling techniques possible from his amorphous body allow him to absorb hits and contort against his opponents.

His name is a Japanese onomatopoeia for something soft and jiggly, and while although lacking an expressive face his character is easy to love as an adorable little creature. With his debut in the 2nd Kaiju extermination arc he proved his benefits helping rid planet Rakka of the Space Bandits and was an integral influence in underlying messages of teamwork portrayed through the Kinnikuman story inclusions.

The M.U.S.C.L.E. version of Puyo Puyo preserved the character’s rounded silhouette and minimal facial detailing. Because the toy line relied on monochromatic sculpts without paint applications, the character’s exaggerated shape was essential in making him instantly recognizable even without color cues.

M.U.S.C.L.E. #7 Puyo Puyo

Finding himself as a nostalgic favorite character to many it’s good he’s generally a pretty common figure to find. Amongst the smallest in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line his presence was often welcome to many epic battles on playgrounds and backgrounds throughout the 1980s as true to the name of as a Small Creature.
