#73 Mairudoman

The mild version

To the English-speaking markets introduced to the figure by the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line the character may be another example of a creative little creature for imaginary battles looking cool as a faceless form with sunglasses. However, before being imported from Japan molded after the earlier keshi figures this character is actually kind of a big deal.

As one of the disguises used by Big the Budo aka the Neptune King, Mairudoman (“Mild Man”) represents and archetype form of an agile speed Chojin version of his various forms. In the Kinnikuman universe constructed by the creative duo Yudetamago of Japan he fits right in as one of the many tournament challengers.

While not a major narrative role in the primary story arcs this character form contributes to the enormous roster of the interesting superhuman wrestlers of the series. His abilities in this form more emphasized towards rapid and evasive combat versus the brute attack approach of Big the Budo himself.

This lesser-known example of one of the many forms appearing from story lines including subterfuge and disguise was still a nostalgic favorite of many presented with the signature spiked shoulders and faceless helmet. The archetype did have some signature moves of note such as the Cyclone Tackle, and the Lightning Dash accelerating Mairudoman across the ring instantly and disorienting opponents. Regardless, always one of the cool M.U.S.C.L.E. examples of the era.
