Aerosol Attacker
Nostalgia gives this figure a quick recognition but most of the English-speaking market introduced to the character in the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. import series never knew his real name. Like many in the colorful universe of Kinnikuman he’s another fantastic example of the imagination that produced the series originally and still today in Japan by the creative duo Yudetamago.

As one of the superhuman wrestling Chojin, Spray Genie is a Maijin inspired competitor providing comedy and fantasy fighting entertainment. Based on a popular Japanese insecticide called “Kincho” in an aerosol spray can, this genie creates chemical clouds and pressurized blasts as an unusual combat ability.
Tricky and deceptive in the ring he relies more on an exaggerated environmental manipulation instead of brute strength to compete against other combatants. Not a pinnacle character in the story arcs but made a new presence for himself in the imaginations of import markets who wouldn’t learn his story until much later.

The new consumers were great at filling in the missing information with their own imaginations, and often recreated a figures signature moves simply by their inferred persona. With the Spray Maijin some might have been his actual signature moves include the Chemical Storm, the Mist Disappearance, or just the Poison Spray. Where just as it sounds, an opponent gets a blast of gas to the face to temporarily blind and disorient them. The original poisonous gasser of the manga.
