Chunky brutal brawler

As with most of the colorful characters imported from Japan by Mattel for the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line Abdullah lost name and story in the rebranding. However, this odd creature’s origins in the Kinnikuman universe created by the artistic Japanese pair Yudetamago as an intended homage to the real-life popular wrestler of the era known as Abdullah the Butcher who the characters brutish style of fighting is reflected directly in his appearances.

Combining a portly humanoid form with the trademark imaginative embellishments that Yudetamago still delivers today with a beastly lower body and menacing face. This character’s figure was a favorite to many of the era regardless of if they knew his origins or not.

Within the Kinnikuman universe Abdullah is a recognizable as a tough and rugged Chojin wrestler with a street fighter personality. Not among the main heroes of the story arcs, his intimidating and brutish look helped provide diversity among the hundreds of imagination-inspired creatures that make the figure lines so loved around the globe.

M.U.S.C.L.E. #75 Abdullah

While most children of the English-speaking markets were filling in his story with their own dreamed up story arcs and roles, this powerful broad shoulder contender actually had multiple signature moves. These would include techniques including the Iron Grip Hold, the Desert Hammer, and the Sandstorm Rush where Abdullah charges his mass into an opponent sending them off their feet or into the ropes of the ring instantly.
