Nordic nuisance
The trademark horned Viking style helmet and general menacing likeness of this figure made fantastic imagination fuel for the English-speaking markets introduced to him by Mattel when they imported the original Keshi line in different material in the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line. Except his origins in the creative Kinnikuman universe as a minor Devil Chojin inspired by the famous Norse raiders didn’t have him in any major roles.

Instead Viking Man aka Baikingu Man posed as a classic warrior persona with rugged armor and a powerful wrestlers build was one of the hundreds of characters imagined by the Japanese powerhouse artistic duo Yudetamago who still generates the story and characters even today. As a representation of a prolific historical villainous archetype to tribute the Nordic lineage of powerful combatants.
Belonging to the large roster of extended superhuman Chojin fighters that populate the tournaments and background battles of the story arcs. True to his form his combat style emphasizes raw power and crushing grapples. Using signature moves including the Berserker Charge, the Raider Crush, or his signature Viking Headbutt where just as one might guess involves a violent smashing of his helmet into opponents’ heads like a battering ram.

To the new consumer markets outside of Japan though where his origins were lost in the rebranded imports. However, this didn’t stop the fans and enthusiasts introduced to the toy series from filling in his details with their own imaginations. Allowing him to often find ways into epic battles of home-made conquests around the globe by the imaginations of children worldwide.
