The right tool
Even if you didn’t know his origins because of his introduction to English-speaking markets by Mattel under the rebranding of the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy series. You probably already knew the name for the figure that is Hammerhead as a nostalgic and recognizable character from childhood.
This monster of a character with his unique head gear and complimenting personality originates from the minds of the Japanese creative duo Yudetamago in their Kinnikuman universe. Like many of the eccentric character designs the manga delivers Hammerhead is far more present in the memories of the era than actual appearances in the story arcs.
Built around the simple but memorable concept of a big bludgeoning humanoid hammer man with a massive hammer shaped head that doubles as his weapon of choice. His exaggerated anatomy fits in perfectly with the other bizarre wrestling superhumans featured throughout the series.
While although not a primary character his unique abilities made for entertaining trademark techniques many probably could have already thought up on their own. From the Iron Hammer Drop and the Skull Crusher Headbutt, to his devastating Hammerhead Smash leaping forward to crush his opponents like a nail driven to the ground. He’s definitely a memorable tool from the battles in backyards and living rooms all over the world even still today.
