Bazooka lizard
A favorite of many fans simply for his small and odd figure featuring a lizard style creature sporting two bizarre cylinders on his back. To the fans introduced to the character Bazoogara by way of the M.U.S.C.L.E. toys he’s another of the intriguing creatures whose identity didn’t follow from his origins in popular Japanese manga and anime before his debut to the new markets by Mattel.
Little did we know that this minor antagonist in the story arcs appearing the 1st Kaiju Extermination arc in chapter 23 and then the anime’s episode 9A. Designed by the artistic pair of friends from Japan going by the collective name Yudetamago, he’s one of the hundreds of unique characters in the roster of the Kinnikuman universe. A franchise known and celebrated for their creative twists of interesting character design concepts even still today.
The character was created by another trickster character named Kinkotsuman to kill the main hero Kinnikuman by shooting milk (yes, glasses of Morinaga milk) out of his cannons to weaken him as for whatever reason milk was determined a weakness of his prey. With the weapons acting as his primary form attack and only real threat as otherwise a relatively weak being.
Mixing sci-fi and fantasy along with a broad range of other influences for the characters of the franchise sets the series apart from most all others. While although only a briefly appearing secondary antagonist role, the form found new life in the imaginations of fans around the world in his various forms of merchandise.
Reportedly (though unconfirmed) the character design lends its origins to a fan-submitted concept by Akiyoshi Suzuki from Hokkaido, Japan. Fitting the long standing tradition of expanding the Kinnikuman character universe with reader created inspirations.
Another wonderful example of how the Yudetamago duo has impacted and influenced the imaginations of fans of every nationality and hopefully continue to do so for long into the future.
