Bringing a tribute to the ancient Egyptians in this character’s design Mister Khamen is one of the original Seven Devil Chojin long before he became a nameless creature in the Mattel M.U.S.C.L.E. import toys. With his identity originating from the enormous universe of manga and anime that is the Kinnikuman franchise created by two long-time Japanese friends known collectively as Yudetamago.
Combining the mysticism of the Egyptian Pharaohs with supernatural abilities and technical classic wrestling combat styles, he’s one of the most distinctive opponents in his appearances. Complete with period likeness striped nemes headdress and mummy like features. His name is a play on the historically recognized King Tutankhamun continuing the tradition of creating unique characters from all walks of life both fictional and real throughout history the series is known for.
His character debuts in the Seven Devil Chojin Arc matched against Warsman in one of the story arcs most memorable battles. Using his supernatural abilities that allow him to detach limbs and perform magic attacks based around his mummy and general Egyptian based theme. He also makes cameo appearances in later story arcs bringing his mystical iconography as an entertaining effect to various scenes and combat.
A fighting style unique to his motif he has an arsenal of unique abilities making him a formidable opponent to all comers. With signature moves including illusion techniques, his Mummy Wrap, or the Curse of the Pharoah, a technique that uses supernatural power to weaken and restrain contenders.
One of the earliest characters amongst the hundreds of unique forms in the series to employ supernatural abilities. His Egyptian based adaptation reflects the manga’s fascination with history and mythology that was incorporated into the character designs of many of the creatures in the universe.
His striking Pharaoh inspired appearance granted him easy likeness to many fans around the world. However it was Yudetamago who allowed Mattel to bring it to the imaginations of fans in the primarily English-speaking markets.
