Heavy weight contender
It wasn’t evident to most of the fans introduced to the characters in the North American markets via the M.U.S.C.L.E. toy line. However, this weight themed Chojin is another great unusual character whose persona is constructed around the concept of a massive 100-ton weight like used for balancing analog scales throughout history. A trait for character design details that made his original creators so beloved by fans in his origins among the enormous Kinnikuman universe created by two long-time Japanese friends in their home country before exported without their original identities to the new markets.

Serving as the second in command along the Throne Wars era of the franchise of Mariposa‘s Flying Team as essentially an animated collection of enormous weights. With such a segmented body design he has the unique ability to rearrange and reduce his weights allowing him to change size and shape during combat. From forms ranging from iron balls, dumbells, and spikes to other heavy weight-based objects giving him a formidable presence in the battles.
One of the more-odd abilities he brings to his fighting techniques and character presence involves using illustrated cards to determine what shape his body will take against his contenders. This allows Mariposa to provide instructions and allow a synergy between his captain’s directions versus specific opponents.

Inspired by general weight training equipment over time to portray a physically overwhelming (though not the most intelligent) with enormous strength and weight to form a dangerous combatant among the super-wrestling universe. Though he lacks tactical ability the artistic duo collectively known as Yudetamago who still produce the popular franchise today made sure he became a favorite character to many fans over the years.

With a catchphrase of “Bakame!!” (fool!!) and a distinctive laugh sounding as “Go-hohoho!” help his exaggerated personality stand out in the huge roster of unique characters. Along with memorable signature moves including the Jet-Roller See-saw, the 100-Ton Pin Press, and his various body transformations that cement this character form in the memories of so many fans worldwide.
During the Survivor match for the Kinniku throne he battles Terryman after overwhelming the significantly smaller Meat character it becomes a spectacular Seesaw Death Match where in the end Terry discovers how to exploit the weakness of the King’s constantly changing structure. Causing the match to end effectively in an entertaining double-knockout.
Collector note: If you happen to have a GREEN version of the M.U.S.C.L.E. figure, he’s also one of the favorites of the guy who made/maintains this website, so please reach out if you’re not expecting a King’s ransom. 🙂
