A strong chin
As with most of the figures brought by Mattel from the Japanese market, Haribote Muscle did not bring his original story or name. Known best as the Chairman of the Chojin Committee he’s a beloved and reoccurring character in the Kinnikuman universe that oversees the Chojin tournaments and activities.
Combining comedy with authority as a source of guidance for emerging heroes he first appears in the 20th Chojin Olympics as a senior official. While having once competed himself and a previous champion of the 11th Chojin Olympics his role changes to administrative and largely bureaucratic.
Often portrayed as a bit of a curmudgeon he has a friendly rivalry with fellow administrator Mayumi Kinniku with an initial skepticism of the hero of the franchise Kinnikuman. Appearing in multiple story arcs as an elder statesman of Chojin affairs he was renamed to Vance McMadd in the English dubbed version of Kinnikuman Nisei aka Ultimate Muscle.
Although he doesn’t participate in battles anymore he was known for classic grappling and feats of strength utilizing popular tactics like the Atomic Drop, Body Scissors, or the Killer Key Lock. This reflects his veteran status as an old school wrestler that sets him apart from the later generation of combatants but earns him their respect.
