Fury from the sky
A sinister character design unmistakably tied to aerial combat techniques sporting his large wings that resembles the hawk crested on his chest. His identity was lost in the official Mattel import line called M.U.S.C.L.E. for the English-speaking markets. However, most fans likely named him appropriately just based on his unique design without knowing his true persona rooted in the original Japanese manga and anime franchise known as Kinnikuman from where he came.
The Hawk Man is an evil Chojin appearing during the Scramble for the throne story arc in the original franchise still popularly produced in Japan today. As a member Mariposa‘s Flying Team serving as part of its advance guard specializing in air-based combat and surprise attacks.
Essentially a humanoid hawk with an unusual feature known as the Hell Bird whick appears in on his head in other Hawk Man figures. Which is actually a part of his body that can detach independently and even transform into other birds of prey to give him extra unique powers like enhanced vision in darkness and over distance.
Arrogant and aggressive with egoist pride in his aerial abilities and a genuinely villainous nature, he has a fond weakness for the well-being of his Hell Bird companion. Which ends up used against him by the franchise primary hero for which it’s named Kinnikuman by incapacitating the beloved sidekick to unsettle Hawk Man’s focus and ultimately defeat him.
His unique fighting style brings multiple signature techniques unique to the characters abilities including his Spiral Bullet, the Wing Cutter, and Hell Bird.
Except it was his universally relatable character design revolving around the idea of humanoid flight that won him a place in the favorites list of many fans.
